An OVERVIEW

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) offers unique opportunities for young people to participate in volunteering, traineeship and projects across Europe. The aim is to promote solidarity, inclusion and the development of personal and professional skills to make a concrete contribution to social change.

Thanks to our many years of commitment, Giosef Italy is recognised as an accredited organisation for the ESC programme, both as a Sending Organisation and as a Hosting Organisation.

What is the European Solidarity Corps?

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a European Union program designed to engage young people, aged 18 to 30, in projects that promote solidarity, social inclusion, and active citizenship. Through the program, participants can take part in international volunteering, internships, and paid jobs in the solidarity sector, gaining professional and personal skills that will support their growth.

ESC-funded projects focus on key social and cultural issues such as environmental sustainability, social inclusion, culture, education, and support for vulnerable groups. These initiatives offer young people the chance to contribute to positive change in local and international communities, fostering meaningful social and cultural transformation across Europe.

By joining these projects, young people can gain valuable hands-on experience in intercultural settings, developing skills that will benefit their future careers. The ESC is specifically designed to provide practical training in various fields, strengthening participants’ ability to work in international cooperation environments and actively contribute to a more inclusive and supportive society.

The program is funded by the European Union, covering travel, food, accommodation, and training costs, ensuring that all young people can access these opportunities without financial barriers. Participants can explore available projects and apply directly through the Youth Portal.

The Role of Giovani senza frontiere as a Lead Organization

As an accredited Lead Organization within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), Giosef Italy plays a key role in coordinating and sending volunteers, both internationally and to other Italian associations within our network. We work closely with numerous local branches and national partners to ensure that volunteers are engaged in meaningful projects that positively impact Italian communities.

Our commitment includes:

  • Selection and Training: We identify motivated young people and provide them with the necessary preparation to tackle the challenges of their volunteering projects.
  • Collaboration with Host Organizations: We work closely with partner organizations to define clear roles, responsibilities, and objectives for the volunteers.
  • Ongoing Support: We offer continuous assistance throughout the entire duration of the volunteering experience, ensuring a rewarding and educational journey.

Through this national network, we promote solidarity and active citizenship, giving young people the opportunity to contribute to the social and cultural development of local communities across Italy.
