Youth Shaping Climate Policy

Youth Shaping Climate Policy Developing inclusive and sustainable societies AN OVERVIEW The climate crisis is one of the most significant injustices of our time and young people will have to live with the consequences for the longest time. It is therefore not surprising that they are afraid of the future. This project aims to support the needs of young people to participate in democratic processes and increase their involvement in the development of inclusive and sustainable societies, in line with the objective of involving citizens and communities in climate and environment-related discussions and actions. The YSCP project will promote the participation of citizens’ representative associations and contribute to the democratic and civic life of the Union through the dissemination of their views in the field of environmental protection in the EU. The OBJECTIVE of the project is to create a space and encourage young citizens to initiate discussion with decision-makers and to be involved in the design of climate policies. To achieve the main objective of the project, the following OBJECTIVES were set: 1. Deepen knowledge on how to involve young people in the decision-making process and share good practices from the participating countries/regions. 2. Create meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in the creation of national climate policies, using youth-friendly formats. 3. Implement structured dialogue processes with key local actors in the youth decision-making process, including young people, youth organisations, youth centres and decision-makers at local and national level. 4. Enabling local young people to act ecologically and become ambassadors of an eco-friendly lifestyle. 5. Disseminate the idea and results of the project to other NGOs in Europe and to the public. Ultimately, this project will help participants to deepen their knowledge of EU institutions and policies, to better understand the achievements and benefits of the EU and to strengthen the democratic participation of young people in shaping climate policy in Europe. COGREENEU

The COGREENEU project aimed to involve local communities and organisations in Europe in the ecological transition, respect and care for the climate. The idea was for the policies of these organisations to be guided by a bottom-up perspective, where it is citizens who, through their decisions, propose ideas to prevent the consequences of climate change.
